Casino Central — A Whirlwind of Emotions by the Ocean

In the picturesque coastal city of Mar del Plata, the capital of Argentina's summer holidays, stands one of the most famous and monumental casinos in South America — Casino Central. This historic complex, an architectural and cultural icon of the coast, combines the grandeur of past eras with excitement and cultural significance.

The casino is part of the grand Gran Hotel Provincial complex, located directly on the seafront. The building dominates the beach area and creates a special resort chic atmosphere, inherited from the golden age of Argentina.

History

Casino Central was officially opened in 1939 at the initiative of then President Roberto Ortiz. The project was designed by the renowned architect Alejandro Bustillo, who also created the buildings of the National Bank and the Llao Llao Hotel in Bariloche. The casino became part of an ambitious plan to transform Mar del Plata into a world-class resort.

At the time of its opening, it was the largest casino in South America. In the 1960s, artists, politicians, writers, and stars from all over the world visited here. The building has been restored several times, including a full upgrade of infrastructure and security systems in 2008.

Today, Casino Central continues to operate under the management of the Lotería de la Provincia de Buenos Aires and remains the most visited gambling venue in the country.

Architecture and Design

The complex is built in a neoclassical style with elements of French architecture. The two symmetrical wings of the building are the hotel and the casino, connected by a grand entrance and an esplanade overlooking the sea.

The casino interiors have preserved their historic elegance: marble columns, carved ceilings, Murano glass chandeliers, and carpets with Art Deco patterns. Special attention is paid to the acoustics and lighting of the halls — there is an atmosphere of grandeur and tranquility at the same time.

Gaming Area

Casino Central offers a wide range of gaming entertainment — from classic tables to the latest slots. The layout of the gaming halls is designed for comfortable navigation and smooth distribution of visitors.
